Our Finance team plays an essential role in maintaining a healthy balance sheet at AIG. It delivers significant finance support for the overall enterprise, optimizing operations, controllership, funding, and capital structure to honor our stakeholder commitments. The team's work is invaluable to informing leadership decision making, complying with regulatory requirements, and maintaining financial discipline, transparency and controls, while providing timely and meaningful information.

Key accountabilities will include but not limited to:

Chief Finance Officer

Strategic Financial Leadership & Business Partnership:

  • Serve as the primary financial advisor to China CEO, Board of Directors, and senior management on all financial matters.
  • Participate in strategic planning and other major operational and risk management activities.
  • Develop and execute the company's long-term financial strategy, including capital and business planning.
  • Lead the mid/long-term planning, annual budgeting, and quarterly forecasting processes.
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support underwriting, pricing, claims, and distribution strategies and decisions.

Financial Reporting, Control & Compliance:

  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of all financial statements in accordance with PRC GAAP and Group reporting standards.
  • Oversee the design and maintenance of a robust internal control environment to safeguard company assets, ensure the integrity of financial data, and comply with relevant laws, regulations and internal rules and policies.
  • Manage the relationship with external auditors, regulators, and tax authorities, ensuring successful audits and examinations.
  • Assume the regulatory required role of the Financial Responsible Person of the insurance entity.
  • Perform Anti Money Laundering related duties, including Know-Your-Customer, large/suspicious transaction reports, high-risk customer reports etc.

Treasury, Capital & Solvency Management:

  • Develop and execute the treasury strategy, including cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, and banking relationships.
  • Lead capital planning, including capital injections, dividend proposals, and stress testing.
  • Proactively manage capital and solvency of the insurance entity to meet or exceed regulatory capital requirements.

Performance Management & Analytics:

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators to track business performance against strategic goals.
  • Analyze underwriting results, claims trends, and expense ratios to identify opportunities for performance improvement.

Team Leadership & Organizational Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, professional excellence, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ensure the finance organization has the necessary skills, systems, and processes to support the company's strategic objectives.

Chief Investment Officer

Investment Strategy & Portfolio Management:

  • Stay abreast of macroeconomic trends, monetary policy, regulatory changes, and market developments in China that impact investment strategy.
  • Coordinate with the AIG APAC Investment Team to formulate, implement, and regularly review the company's overall investment strategy and strategic asset allocation in alignment with the liability profile, risk appetite, and solvency requirements.
  • Manage the investment portfolio within company policies and approved guidelines, establish clear performance benchmarks and regularly evaluate the portfolio's performance against targets.
  • Conduct rigorous due diligence, selection, and ongoing monitoring of external investment managers, custodians, and other service providers.

Compliance & Risk Governance:

  • Serve as the primary expert on NFRA investment-related regulations and ensure 100% compliance with all regulatory limits, reporting requirements, and filing procedures.
  • Design, implement, and maintain a robust investment risk management framework. Monitor and report on key risk metrics such as credit risk, market risk, concentration risk, and liquidity risk.
  • Prepare and present investment reports for the Board's Investment Committee.

Asset-Liability Management & Capital Efficiency:

  • Ensure the investment portfolio is structured to support the characteristics of insurance liabilities.
  • Manage the portfolio to contribute positively to the company's overall solvency position.
  • Ensure the investment portfolio provides sufficient liquidity to meet claim payments and other operational cash flow needs, especially in stress scenarios.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Finance, Accounting, Actuarial or a related field; CPA, ACCA or equivalent qualification is preferred.
  • Proven and strong experience in an insurance environment.
  • Good understanding of Chinese/US GAAP and IFRS, tax and regulatory requirements in China.
  • Experience of engaging with senior management level and local regulatory authorities.
  • Advance presentation and communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial colleagues.
  • Able to work independently and proactively.
  • Able to work cohesively in a matrix structure managing experienced senior finance professional.
  • Goal oriented and well-organized, with the ability to develop and manage disciplined processes.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Dealing with ambiguity.
  • A desire to improve process efficiency and deliver a high-quality work product.
  • Fluency in both English and Mandarin is required.
  • Have a domicile within China.
