Strategic Business Leader
This role functions as the Strategic Business Leader of Rooms and Food and Beverage operations and steps up to the General Manager role in his/her absence. Areas of responsibility include Front Office, Concierge, Laundry, Recreation/Fitness Center, Housekeeping, Food and Beverage and Event Management where applicable.
The position oversees the development and implementation of departmental strategies and ensures implementation of the brand service strategy and brand initiatives. The position ensures the Rooms and Food & Beverage operations meets the brand's target customer needs, ensures associate satisfaction, focuses on growing revenues, and maximizes the financial performance of the department. As a member of the executive committee you will develop and implement, hotel-wide strategies that deliver products and services to meet or exceed the needs and expectations of the brand's target customer and associates and provide a return on investment to the owner and Marriott International.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Hospitality, or related field + 2 years hotel leadership experience OR
- Associate degree + 4 years hotel operations leadership experience
- Experience in luxury brands; J.W. Marriott experience highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of rooms, F&B, events, revenue management, and marketing
- Proven ability to manage financial performance, labor productivity, and operating budgets
- Strong strategic planning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication, relationship building, negotiation, and leadership abilities
Key Responsibilities
Operations Leadership
- Lead and oversee Rooms and Food & Beverage operations to deliver brand standards
- Drive continuous improvement in service, quality, and operational efficiency
- Ensure compliance with all brand, legal, and safety requirements
- Maintain strong relationships with owners, guests, and community stakeholders
Guest Experience
- Ensure all products and services meet or exceed guest expectations
- Stay visible across the hotel, address guest feedback, and champion the brand's service culture
Sales & Revenue
- Partner with Sales & Marketing to grow top-line revenue and market share
- Participate in revenue meetings, forecasting, pricing strategies, and sales activities
Financial Management
- Oversee operational budgets, P&L, forecasting, cost control, and capital planning
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational productivity
People Leadership
- Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing Rooms and F&B leadership team
- Foster a culture of engagement, inclusion, accountability, and recognition
- Ensure training, development, and performance management processes are executed
