Senior Director, Marketing Operations
The Senior Director, Marketing Operations has responsibility for the operational aspects of the marketing process in support of the Commercial organization's promotional activities; these include but are not limited to – support of the Medical/Legal/Regulatory review of promotional materials; coordination of print vendors; promotional material inventory management; fulfillment/allocation of promotional materials, and operational support for speaker programs and sponsorships and exhibits. This role will lead and oversee the activities of the marketing operations group, as it evolves, managing individuals' performance and optimizing the groups effectiveness to support the organizations commercial efforts. This position is the liaison between the Marketing/Brand teams and the Scientific Communication Review Committee (SCRC/CRC comprised of Medical, Legal and Regulatory leadership). This role will also work effectively across other key functions within Commercial (i.e. Field Training, Sales, Managed Markets, etc.) as well as other key corporate functions that include but not limited to: Compliance, HR and Procurement.
Key Duties:
- Develops Marketing Operations policies and department operating procedures
- Participates and attends the CRC promotional material review processes
- Works closely with Compliance to ensure that all applicable regulatory/legal guidelines are incorporated in department procedures related to the proper use of promotional materials
- Provides support to CRC review process and responsible for supporting steps involving materials development (by partnering with Marketing/Brand colleagues), through review process (by supporting the CRC Team) and print/distribution of promotional materials as required
- Oversees the "traffic" process and represent commercial within that process
- Helps maintain and manage the CRC meeting calendar and agenda as appropriate
- Responsible for creating and maintaining CRC SOPs governing the efficient review of promotional pieces
- Communicates and coordinates activities with the broader USC organization to ensure activities and performance are aligned with and achieving expectations (e.g. Monthly USCC KPI scorecard, Demand forecasts, and key staffing updates)
- Engages in the "Plan of Action" (POA) planning process and support Marketing in managing the POA planning calendar as it pertains to the development and approval of new promotional material developed for field execution
- Manages the distribution and promotional material fulfillment to the field
- Manages key print/production vendors as well as vendors responsible for promotional material distribution
- Partners with Field Training and Development in to support the review and approval of all field related materials that are linked to the existing POA cycle
- Provides operational support (payment processing) to speaker programs executions as well as sponsorships and exhibits
- Adheres to all SCRC and CRC policies and procedures
- Facilitates ad-hoc requests
- Accountable for budget creation and adherence
- Actively coaches and develops MOPs staff
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or management, or relevant discipline
Required Experience/Skills:
- 12 years related experience in the Pharmaceutical industry and 4 years of supervisory/management experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong business acumen and maturity.
- Excellent diplomacy and facilitation skills; ability to influence without authority.
- Good understanding of regulatory, legal and medical requirements to pharmaceutical marketing.
- Understanding of best practices across the pharmaceutical industry.
- Experience successfully managing a team and demonstrating development of others.
- Ability to work successfully cross-functionally.
- Innovative mindset – desire to use technology and new approaches to move to achieve step changes in productivity
- Strong passion for process optimization combined with a continuous improvement mindset
- Strong change management orientation and desire to lead through resistance at times
Pay Range: $212,000 - $318,000
Flex Designation: Hybrid-Eligible Or On-Site Eligible
Flex Eligibility Status: In this Hybrid-Eligible role, you can choose to be designated as: 1. Hybrid: work remotely up to two days per week; or select 2. On-Site: work five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility.
