About the Role

Vertiv is hiring a Field Service Engineer – Thermal to support our growing service operations in Croatia.

This is a hands-on, field-based role where you will be responsible for commissioning, servicing, maintaining, and repairing thermal management and HVAC systems used in mission-critical environments such as data centers and technical facilities.

Approximately 80% of your work will be located in the Zagreb region, with additional travel across Croatia and occasional travel within the wider EMEA region.

You will act as a trusted technical partner to customers, ensuring their cooling infrastructure operates reliably, efficiently, and safely. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy technical problem solving, working independently, and engaging directly with customers.

Key Responsibilities

You will respond to assigned service calls and perform preventive maintenance, system start-ups, and emergency repairs on Vertiv thermal management equipment and associated systems.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Performing all work in accordance with safety policies and industry regulations
• Maintaining strong communication with customers, scheduling teams, and management
• Ensuring planned maintenance completion targets are met
• Accurately documenting service activities using company systems
• Identifying potential service or sales leads and reporting through the correct process
• Supporting continuous improvement and compliance with all company procedures

As the face of Vertiv in the field, you will build strong customer relationships and maintain a professional, customer-focused approach at all times.

What You'll Bring

We are looking for a technically skilled and customer-oriented engineer with strong troubleshooting abilities.

You should have:

• Technical education in HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline
• 3–5+ years of experience in a technical service or maintenance role
• Solid knowledge of HVAC systems and cooling technologies
• Strong problem-solving capability and ability to prioritize tasks
• Team-oriented mindset with good communication skills
• Valid Category B driving license
• Computer literacy (MS Office)
• Basic English communication skills (spoken and written) are an advantage

A university degree in Mechanical Engineering is considered a plus.

Work Environment

This role is primarily field-based at customer sites such as data centers, telecom facilities, and industrial environments.

The position may involve:

• Travel throughout Croatia and occasionally across EMEA
• Participation in a 24/7 on-call rota
• Physical activities such as standing, climbing ladders, bending, and lifting equipment (up to approximately 20–25 kg)
• Working in environments with mechanical and electrical systems

All work must be performed in full compliance with safety standards and the use of appropriate PPE.
